Goals of Basin Management Project • Stop seawater intrusion • Balance the basin • Meet the water needs of the Pajaro Valley • Meet cost and schedule targets
Project Has Won Significant Grant Funding • US Bureau of Reclamation Title XVI • Total of $20 million to be paid over several years • California Dept of Water Resources • Proposition 13 • Proposition 50 • Total net grant of $23 million • Grant funding requires continuous project implementation
Partnerships • Import water supply • Santa Clara Valley WD, San Benito County WD • City of Watsonville • Recycling project • Upper watershed opportunities • Additional recycled supplies – Morgan Hill/Gilroy, Hollister, San Juan Bautista • Saline groundwater management • Regional watershed enhancements • Soquel Creek • Water supply augmentation Partnerships are key to BMP success
