  2. We will analyze how the U.S. Constitution reflects the principles of limited government, republicanism, checks & balances, federalism, separation of powers, popular sovereignty, and individual rights using a matrix and a mural.

Affirmation We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Find the section on your matrix that matches the placard. Read the section. Draw a picture or illustration in the blank box on your matrix. Activity

Divide your paper into 8 squares. Write a catchy title in the first square that reflects the 7 principles. Draw a design to represent a principle in each of the seven remaining squares. Each square should be labeled and represent one of the 7 principles. Use color, be neat! Closing Activity - Reflection

Create a T-Shirt design on 8 ½ x 11 paper that celebrates the idea of American unity and answers our unit theme “Who Are We as Americans;” Write a sales pitch that could persuade a store to produce your shirt. Your T-shirt design will be entered into a campus wide contest. 2.Create a poster design on 8 ½ x 11 paper that shows the benefits enjoyed by you and your family because of the freedoms given in the Constitution; Write an explanation of how you and your family benefit from the U.S. Constitution. Your poster will be entered into the Constitution Day Poster Design Contest. Pick up a entry form from your SS teacher. Unit 1 Performance Task
