  4. “I want to find the longest dog. Will you please help me?”

  5. “How can we find the longest dog?” asked Joseph. “Please help me.”

  6. “Good! I will measure the dogs. Can I use many different hands to measure? Why or why not?”

  7. Our hands are not the same. We need objects that are the same length.

  8. DOG FOOD DOG FOOD DOG FOOD DOG FOOD DOG FOOD Marissa comes to help with cans of dog food. Each can is the same length.

  9. Here is the first dog. Before measuring, let’s estimate. starting point end point

  10. Here is the second dog. Before we measure, let’s estimate.

  11. This is our last dog to measure. First let’s estimate.

  12. This is the winner! This is the longest dog! If we used to measure, would we use more or less than the number of cans?
