  4. The Versailles treaty • After World War I Germanys solders were cut to 100,000 • The next effect of the treaty was that they were taxed and this ruined their economy.

  5. Attack on Pearl Harbor • The attack on Pearl Harbor happened on December 6th , 1941. • One of our largest battle ships the Nevada was sunk. • This was the beginning of World War II.

  6. The Blitz • The Blitz happened between September 1940 and May 1941. • Germany tried to force Britain to surrender by bombing its major cities. • Germany launched 127 large scale night bombing raids. • More than 60,000 civilians were killed and two million homes were destroyed in the Blitz.

  7. Road to Stalingrad • Both sides lost about 500,000 people. • About 10,000 civilians lived through the battle. • The Red Army [Soviets] had a Calvary of people who rode on horses to the front of the battle very quickly.

  8. Fighting in the Desert • The fiercest fighting in the desert war happened in Libya. • The 7th armored division was nicknamed the Desert Rats. • Libya was first controlled by the Italian army, then captured by the British. Later that year the Germans captured Libya. Finally the British captured Libya for good.

  9. Woman in the war • One of the fictional characters, Rosie the riveter, was a national symbol of the new working woman. • In India, the fear of a Japanese invasion, caused woman to train for air raids and helping when people were injured.

  10. Fun facts • Countries in the war were - Britain, France, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, United States, Italy, Spain, Nazi Germany, Japan. • The swastika [Nazi symbol] was originally used in Hindu temples in Greece and India.
