Who is Mrs. McGrath? • UW – BA in Psychology, K-8 Teaching Certificate • Masters in Ed Tech – Lesley University • 20+ years teaching experience- both middle school and elementary 5th/6th grades • 15th year at MMS • I love teaching math! • I teach part-time (per. 4 & 5) • I have a daughter in 4th grade at Briarwood • My husband and I LOVE roller coasters!

  3. Curriculum New this year -CMP 3 (Connected Mathematics Program 3) Supports CCSS We will do all 8 units in order Plus 2 units from the CMP3- 8thgrade curriculum First Unit: Shapes & Designs!

  4. Grading Policies NO Extra Credit! 65% of Grade - Tests and Quizzes • 10 units • Unit Tests – Someretakeswill be offered, score is an average of their original and retake • Occasional bonus points on tests

  5. Grading Policies 35% of Grade- HW, CW, Participation • HWwill be graded on accuracy and/or effort and completed in pencil in the students’ spiral notebook and corrected with pen • Classwork, participation, & teamwork are the daily expectation • Partner Quizzes - used for reviewing concepts in a cooperative group setting

Communication • Website(Updated daily) • Email Distribution List – about twice/month (Please keep email addresses updated on Family Access.) • Family Access Grades (Updated weekly) • HWRS -Homework Record Sheet & Planner • Progress Reports: Mid-terms & Trimester • Gradescan be found on Family Access anytime!

  7. Helping from Home Look at your student’s assignmentsand HWRS Support good studyand organizational skills Check Family Access often Read McGrath Math Updates (emails) Email me if you have questions!

  8. Homework Help • Math Lab: Thursdays – (begins Sept. 25th) • Staffed by a rotating Maywood Math Teacher • 2:10pm – 3:10pm in Room 119 • Picked up or wait in library until 3:45 • You can ride the Activity Bus home (3:45 PM) • Help from Mrs. McGrath: • By appointment right after school

  9. Absent Work Policy Check website – go through the PowerPoint lesson for the day, thendo homework Students will have one day for each excused absenceto make up daily work. Work will not be accepted later than that given time without a late pass.

  10. Late Work Policy 3 “late-work” passes each trimester Can be used up to 5 school days after an assignment was due After 5 days, NO WORK will be accepted, even with a late pass
