  2. GLASS INGREDIENTS • Common glass is made from: • sand or silica (SiO2) • sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) • limestone (CaCO3) • magnesium carbonate (MgCO3) • additives to improve the glass quality and to colour the glass.

  3. BASIC INFORMATION • glass is highly resistant to most chemicals • its big enemy is hydrofluoric acid • water can corode glass (depends on temperature) • good termal conductor • it is a common material enemy = nepřítel, conductor = vodič

  10. GLASS COLECTION Bottle Banks are very common near shopping centers, at civic amenity sites and in local neighborhoods. The first Bottle Bank was introduced by Stanley Race CBE, then president of the Glass Manufacturers’ Federation and Ron England in Barnsley the second was installed in Oxford. BB commonly stand beside collection points for other recyclable waste like paper, metals and plastics. There are now over 50,000 bottle banks in the United Kingdom GLASS AND ENVIRONMENT
