  1. Moving an office is not just about a change in location as it can be a huge change for everybody involved in the business. From the owner to employees, everyone needs to pitch in for the relocation process. Moving an office is not an easy task - it takes proper planning and execution. You need to consider the essentials things while undertaking the relocation process. As an employee of an organization you need to to play a vital part in making the process easy and quick. Even if your organization hires office movers, there are some ways in which you can contribute to a smooth move. Let’s take a look at some relocation tips that you can implement in prior to the actual move.

  2. Consult with your boss The initial step you can take is to have a word with your boss regarding the relocation process and how you can contribute. Ask them whether there are any restrictions on the moving. Ask about what you are allowed to take away in the office? If possible, ask to have look at the blueprint of the new office as it will help you to plan your move and pack accordingly. Ensure that you are aware of the rules before you start to wrap up things.

  3. Declutter Current Workspaces Next thing you need to do is to start with packing your stuff. Start with the most tedious yet important task of packing the filing cabinet. Double check that you are packing important files first. Ask your boss which files are important and what should be shredded. Use boxes to pack large files and folders and name them accordingly. Also pack your desk and sort out the required stationary and other handy items.

  4. Wrap Personal Belongings Every employee has their personal items in the office, such as photo frames, posters, pictures, pen stand etc. If you have any valuable items in the office, make sure to leave them at home in order to avoid losing your belongings during the relocation process. If your company is hiring a man and van service, ask the person in-charge about any concerns you may have regarding the safe moving of your office belongings.

  5. Therefore, as an employee, these are the things you can look for while assisting in the relocation of your office. When employees take the initiative and contribute their thoughts and help, the entire moving process becomes smoother and disruptions are minimized. If you are aware of the rules of moving, you can also be the responsible person that spreads a word among other employees keeping everyone informed and getting them involved in the relocation process.
