This assignment requires students to participate in all aspects of the artistic process. You must work effectively in a small group (2-5 people) to create a music video for the (school appropriate) song of your choice. The Project
Set: You may have your performance taped by Gipe on the stage in the auditorium on the appointed day or your group may choose to film on their own. Any and all set pieces are the responsibility of your group. The expectation is that your set will be creative and purposeful. • Blocking: Movement will be essential to communicating your understanding of your chosen song. Your group needs to incorporate meaningful blocking into the video. • Costumes and Props: These are important elements of any theatre production. They help establish the story for the audience as well as the personality of your character. • Music:Kinda goes without saying, since we’re making a music video. Still, make sure that your audience can hear the music on the video. It’s also good if you know who’s bringing it, how you’ll play it, etc. Requirements: Things you MUST have.
Rehearsal Time is worth credit!!! For each day of class that you are given to rehearse, you will earn 10 points of participation credit. It might not seem like much, but 10 pts X 5 days equals 50 points. You don’t want to lose these points. Be in class, stay on task, and you have nothing to worry about. When your work is graded on the IBMYP Rubric, I will be looking at the four elements of theatrical performance outlined previously as well as your overall performance, including your understanding/interpretation of the song and character creation. Points: How you’re getting graded
This Project is worth 200 points!!! Just so you know… Total Points
If I am filming your video in class, that work will take place on March 19th.You will do your video on the stage. You will film your video in one take, because I am not doing your film editing for you. Be prepared! All videos are due in class on March 20th, for viewing on March 21st. They must be in DVD format or uploaded to YouTube. Videos not ready to view on this date will be counted late. Due Dates
Q: What happens if I don’t know anything about video editing? A: That’s fine! Set up your video so I can take care of filming on the 30th. One take = no editing. Q: What happens if a group member is doing what they’re supposed to? A: A group has the right to throw out a member if they miss 2 or more classes during the rehearsal process or is not participating. You must meet with Gipe prior to that point. Q: Why is this project worth so many points? This is a difficult project and requires a lot of work from all involved. The high point value honors the amount of work the project requires.
