Highlights of the First Day of School with the Pillow Panthers: • A personal visit from TEA Commissioner Robert Scott • A campus-wide kick-off of Social Studies Alive! and History Alive! • Another smooth start to the school year thanks to the teachers and staff of Pillow Elementary, led by Dr. Linda Webb and Mrs. Tonya King!

  2. Commissioner Robert Scott Visits with Pillow Panthers on the 1st Day of School

  3. Dr. Webb introduces Commissioner Scott to Pillow 5th Graders

  4. Mrs. Ellard and her 5th Graders welcome Mr. Scott.

  5. Pillow 5th Graders are eager to share with Mr. Scott about what makes Pillow special. . . “great teachers” . . . “we work hard” . . . “we get lots of awards”. . . “Dr. Webb and Mrs. King!”

  6. “Mr. Scott, What is it like to be in charge of over 4 million students in Texas?”

  7. Ms. Rech’s 5th Graders are all ears when Dr. Webb is speaking.

  8. Mrs. Barrett’s 2nd Graders share what they are learning today in class! (and they are very impressed by Mr. Scott’s bilingual skills)

  9. On task and ready to learn!

  10. The Kindergartners have Social Studies ON their schedule!

  11. Ms. Rech and her students build a criteria for a cooperative learning community. Then she introduces the Interactive Notebook using her own as an example.

  14. Ms. Rech has plenty of educational magazines so that each student can personalize their own Interactive Student Notebook

  15. Selecting “just the right pictures” . . .
