Work with what they give you. • Read all quotations in the box. • Try to decide what they say about the topic (word you need to define) • Decide which quote you want to use. • Determine the main idea of the quote. • Write the main idea in a sentence or two. That is your thesis.
Strong thesis statements: • Take a stand (no back and forth) • Justifies discussion (prove your topic is controversial) • Expresses one main idea • Is specific- (what exactly are you focusing on?)

Magic Feathers You may use your magic feather on the quiz tomorrow. This is the only item you may have out during the exam. You can write any information on it that you would like. You do not have to use your feather. You may not give it to someone else or share feathers. You must remember to bring it to class- if you forget it you will not be able to go get it or retake the exam with it later.
