  2. THE HOUSE OF GOD • The word house is used in a few ways • A place of abode…Mark 5:38 • The members of a family…Acts 16:14-15 • The House of God refers to: • A dwelling place for God…Eph 2:19-22; 1Pt 2:5 • The members of God’s family…Eph 2:19-22; Gal 6:10

  3. THE HOUSE OF GOD • God the Father…Matt 6:9, 26, 30-33; 7:11 • Brethren…Ro 12:10; Jas 5:19; Gal 6:1-3; Eph 4:32 • Born into family…Gal 3:26-27; Ro 6:1-23; 1Pt 1:22-23

THE CHURCH OF GOD • The House of God is the Church of God • Members of the Church…1Cor 12:13; Acts 2:47 • Ekklesia, a called out group…Acts 7:38; 19:32, 39 • As members, we are called: • To live holy lives….1Pt 1:13-16; 4:1-3 • To worship God…1Pt 2:5, 9 • To fight the good fight…1 Ti 1:18-19; Jude 3

TRUTH THE PILLAR OF TRUTH • The church is the pillar and ground of truth • Pillar, vertical structure used for support • Ground, the foundation of an object • The church is the foundation and support of truth • The church proclaims truth…1Ti 3:16 • Christ was manifest in the flesh…Jn 1:1; 14 • Christ was justified in the spirit…Acts 2:21-26 • Christ was seen of angels…Matt 4:11; 28:2; Eph 3:12 Pillar GROUND

  6. THE PILLAR OF TRUTH • Jesus was preached …Mk 16:16; Ro 1:5; 16:16; Jn 3:36 • Jesus was received into glory…Acts 2:33-36

  7. THE CONCLUSION • As Christians, we are members of God’s house • As God’s children, we are members of God’s church • As church members, we must support the truth
