Asking & Telling Our Grade. How to say your grade. add ねんせい （ nensei ） to a number. EXAMPLE. Grade 8 hachi nen sei はち　ねん　せい 八　　年　　　生. Asking For Somebody’s grade:. Q. な ん ねんせい で すか 。 Nan nensei desuka. Answering:. A. はち　ねんせ い で す。 hachi nen sei desu.

  5. Asking For Somebody’s grade: • Q. なん ねんせい ですか。 Nan nenseidesuka

  6. Answering: • A. はち　ねんせいです。 hachinenseidesu

  7. Telling Someone Your Grade: • わたし は はち　ねんせい Watashiwahachinensei 　です。 desu

  8. Particle も(mo)

  9. も(mo)means also • * N.B. In Japanese the particle always follows the word it belongs to.

  10. Example: • Mizue: なん　ねんせい です か。　　　 Nan nenseidesuka • What grade are you in? • Atsuko: 八　ねんせいです。　　　 • hachinenseidesu • I’m in grade 8. • Mizue: わたし　 も　 八　 ねんせい です。 watashimohachinenseidesu. • I’m also in grade 8.
