5. History on Formation of (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter

6. (ISC)2 Officially Approved (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter on 27th January 2014 as Chapter No. 116 - Public announcement has been made at (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter website and social media (ie. LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter)

7. Purpose The purpose of ISC2MY shall be, as set forth in its Bylaws to be an approved Chapter of (ISC)2 and in such capacity promote an interest in the information security field and otherwise support the mission of (ISC)2. In furtherance of such purpose, ISC2MY shall carry out activities appropriate to its legal and tax status and in compliance with the Chapter Affiliation Agreement with (ISC)2. Objectives The objectives of ISC2MY shall be: • To make the society safer by improving efficiency, effectiveness and resiliency of information-dependent economies through information security education • To promote the interest & education of, and help expand the knowledge of the individual for the improvement and development of members’ capabilities relating to information security and related fields • To encourage open exchange of information security amongst members • To promote adequate communications to keep members abreast of current events in information security and relevant fields that can be beneficial to them and their employees • To communicate to management, professionals, universities and research agencies the importance of information security necessary to ensure the effective organization and utilization of their resources • To promote the Association’s professional certifications

8. Vision (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter’s vision is to promote an interest in the information security field through networking, knowledge sharing and education in Malaysia for its members and community. Mission (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter’s mission is to: 1.   Be catalyst in building a strong information security community and leadership through networking 2.   Be catalyst of knowledge sharing among its members and other information security professionals 3.   Be instrumental in mentorship for growing new professionals in information security 4.   Grow ISC2 certified professionals through awareness, education and training, as well as information security skills and knowledge advancement 5.   Grow awareness and consciousness of ethical conduct and professional ethics at highest level

Activities & Events • Membership recruitment has started since beginning of 2014 and it is open to all • Notification on Nomination of 1st Chapter Board has been sent out on 1st week of April 2014 • Nomination closing date was on 26th April 2014 12:00pm • Interim Chapter activities report submitted to (ISC)2 on 27th April 2014 • Afternoon Talk “Information Security – What’s New in Town” on 7th May 2014 • Notice of (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter AGM 2014 has been sent out on 10th May 2014

Resolution (2) • Additional Membership Category for Professional Members (Non-Malaysian) • To seek the member’s approval to add a new membership category for (ISC)2 Certified Professionals who are the expatriates or foreigners to join (ISC)2 Malaysia Chapter. • There are currently three (3) types of Membership Category which are • Professional Members must be Malaysian citizen, only Professional Members shall hold office and they are entitled to vote. • Ordinary Members can be any persons having interest to join ISC2MY. They are not entitled to vote or hold office. • Student Members can be any full-time student currently enrolled in a recognized university or university college, and engaged in the study of relevant fields. They are not entitled to vote or hold office. • Our Malaysia’s Registrar of Society (ROS) stated that only Malaysians are entitled to hold office and vote.

Resolution (2) Cont… • Propose to amend the ByLaws by adding one more category to cater for Non-Malaysian (ISC)2 Certified Professionals • 1.  Professional Members (Malaysian) • 2.  Professional Members (Non-Malaysian) • 3.  Ordinary Members • 4.  Student Members • Professional Members (Non-Malaysian) • Professionals who have taken and passed one of the (ISC)2 credential exams(ie. CISSP, CAP, SSCP, CSSLP, CCFP and other (ISC)2 credentials), and havecompleted the endorsement process. • Professionals interested in the purpose and objectives of ISC2MY shall beeligible for membership in ISC2MY, subject to these Bylaws established by ISC2MYand (ISC)2. • Professionals who are in good standing as a member of (ISC)2. • Professional Members (Non-Malaysian) shall not be entitled to vote. • Professional Members (Non-Malaysian) shall not hold office. • Proposed by: Elissa Cher GeikTheng (54444) • Seconded by: Suresh Ramasamy (456170)
