LHD Nurse Dispensing Trainers and the DHMH Division of Training Services Responsibilities
LHD Nurse Dispensing Trainers • One registered nurse in every LHD should be identified and authorized by the Health Officer to serve as the LHD Nurse Dispensing trainer • The LHD Nurse Dispensing trainer is responsible for: • Ensuring that registered nurses working in positions with dispensing responsibilities attend the on-line nurse dispensing training • Maintaining records related to nurse dispensing training • Serving as the LHD contact to the DHMH Division of Training Services as related to nurse dispensing • Providing pre-training and post-training as needed for registered nurses seeking dispensing authority
Responsibilities of DHMH • Convening a Committee on Nurse Dispensing to review and approve: • The formulary for each LHD • The on-line training curriculum required for RN’s • The forms used to document required information and actions
Responsibilities of DHMH • Including representative of the following as members of the committee on Nurse dispensing: • Board of Pharmacy • Board of Nursing • Board of Physicians • DHMH • Maryland Council of Public Health Nursing Directors • A volunteer pharmacist from the community
