Recent improvements in MCD Data access software • Change in the supply format • see ftp://ftp.lmd.jussieu.fr/pub/emlmd/MCD_v5.0/ • The basic MCD is provided with only the reference 'clim_aveEUV‘ scenario (2 Gb) • Other scenarios provided as « add-ons » (~1 or 1.5 Gb): ‘clim_minEUV’,'clim_maxEUV','cold', 'warm', 'strm‘ • The numbering of scenarios has changed: 1 is now 'clim_aveEUV‘ (2=EUVmin, 3=EUVmax ). Before it was 1=min, 2=ave,3=max • Error correction: near surface wind direction (below 1st layer, ~5 m). • Error Correction : cloud ice particle size retrieval in the software and in some datafiles… • Error correction in EOF (large scale variability scheme) in dust storm scenario.
Upcoming changes in MCD datafiles • Add surface ice frost Will change some of the variable index in call_mcd • Correction in « clim » reference scenario (to discard year with overestimated water cycle)
Toward MCD 5.1 : improvements in GCM • Improveddust cycles • including a specific effort above the summer high latitudes which HAVE A ROLE ON global water content and clouds • Better water cycle and cloudstuning • Improved tracer conservation • Updatedatmospheric composition fromCuriosity SAM (seenextslide) • Left for the future : parametrization of detacheddustlayers (note : the changes abovewon’tbeso important at EDM landing season…)
