  2. By K.Cooper Homework:- Research a project that interests you from the following and then produce an A3 mood board about the project. Note: Choose well you will be doing this project for 1 year!

  3. By K.Cooper Board Game Project - Situation A leading toy manufacturer that produces some of the world’s most popular board games is facing a problem. The popularity of computer games and handheld consoles has meant a dramatic decline in board game sales. It has also meant that people tend to play games on their own instead of with friends and family. The company needs a new and exciting product that will encourage people to buy and play non-electronic games again.

  4. By K.Cooper • Board Game Project - Brief • Your task is to design and make a new game that can be played by two or more players at once. It must not be a computer game or console base game. You will need to: • Design and make the game, pieces & packaging • Produce an instruction leaflet for the game • Produce a poster and/or a point of sale display for the game • You can use CAD/CAM (The laser cutter / Vinyl cutter) for at least one stage in the project.

  7. By K.Cooper New Console Project - Situation A leading console manufacturer that produces some of the world’s most popular consoles and games is facing a problem. They feel the popularity of computer games and handheld consoles has led to people playing games on their own instead of with friends and family. They feel this is leading to users developing poor social skills later in life. The company needs to build a new and exciting family friendly console games product that encourages interactivity, social skills and group games.

  8. By K.Cooper New Console Project - Brief Your task is to design and make a new console game that can be played by two or more players at once. You will need to consider the latest technology ideas like online gaming and wireless controller options. You will be required to design the console concept, how it looks and the idea about how it works. (Note: You will not be designing the electronics of the console so it will just be a model!)

  11. Check out http://uk.wii.com Even though it’s a model you Can say it will have blue tooth technology! It could work Like the Wii controller! How will the console look? Remember it cannot be too wacky as you have to make it! Make the console connect to the internet to enable more social games. By K.Cooper

  12. By K.Cooper Jewellery Project - Situation A high street fashion chain is looking to add jewellery to its already highly successful range of teenage clothing for men. The company has noticed that many fashion retailers include a range of jewellery for women, but they believe there is a gap in the markets for men’s accessories. However, they have a limited budget and so will not be using expensive materials such as metal and gemstones in their range.

  13. By K.Cooper Jewellery Project- Brief Your task is to design and make a range of men’s jewellery using plastic or other non-metallic materials. You will not be allowed to set gemstones into your designs. You should include design for a range of items, but you do not necessarily have to make them all.

  18. By K.Cooper Magazine Project - Situation A well-renowned publishing house responsible for some of the country’s most popular magazines wants to add a new title to its range. They have no preference over the target audience for the magazine, but require the magazine to be both popular and easily marketable. They will launch the magazine in style with a free gift and special promotional materials.

  19. By K.Cooper Magazine Project- Brief Your task is to design and make a selection of samples for a new magazine. You will not be required to produce the whole magazine, but will have to produce a cover, sample pages and an appropriate 3D free gift that could be given away with the first issue. You should think carefully about whom the magazine is for and why they would buy it.

  24. By K.Cooper Your Project... You may however decide to do another projectsomething that is your own idea! If you do this however you need to convince your teacher it is a suitable project to do. You will need to design and make something that compliments your skills. You will need to think about room issues such as size and storage, don’t make something too big! You also can only make something out of wood or plastic the workshop is not geared up for metal work.

A situation is an outline of the problem. • Brief • Your design brief is an outline of what you will design to solve your problem. • You will need to: • Design and make a 3D solution? • It can be a model; it does not have to function! • What items will you design and make? • Design and make a 2D solution, packaging, etc. • Produce a display for the product.
