  3. Course Package Contents • You will receive a package within the first 2-3 weeks of your course. (Please let us know if you don’t receive it. ) • This package will contain important information about your course and material to help you complete your chosen qualification. • Package includes; Folder, Workbook, and gifts.

  5. How the course works Business Courses • Orientation Week • 26or 48 weeks Course • Assessments Timetable Given to you Each Week of course has: Online Lessons – Student Area and Moodle Online Classes – login via GTI Student Community Assessments for each Subject

  7. Logging in to GTI Student Community • On the GTI page, click on ‘Student Login’, which will take you to the login area for your Course. http://student.gti.edu.au/login/ • Use the login details given to you by GTI.

  8. GTI Student Community Home Page • From here you can access your: • Online Classes • Contact us • Select your Chosen Course

  9. Chosen Course Page • Access to: • Assessment Timetable • Student Online Area (Moodle) • Online Lessons (English Discoveries)

  10. How to join your Online Classes and Activities • Clicking on ‘Online Classes’ icon will bring you to a page with access to your qualification level class • You will see the time for your class. Press ‘Launch’ when it is the right time for the class. • You will join the ‘online class’.

  12. When you are stuck or confused about something, click this icon and it will send a notification to your teacher, who will help you. How to participate in your Online Class Video section will show a live stream video of you, your teacher and class mates These icons will allow you to do things on the interactive whiteboard like drawing, writing, highlighting etc. Shows you the names of your class mates and teacher. This is your Online Classroom Whiteboard area Shows you the conversations happening within your class. Use this to communicate with others

  14. Logging onto Moodle – Assessments and Resources • Click on Moodle Icon on the GTI Student Community Page. Taking you to the login page • Login using your given Username and password provided in your email ‘Conformation of Enrolment + Login Details’

  15. Using Moodle Main Menu – access to student handbook, downloading content for accessing your units and a video for new students on how to use Moodle. More important information you need to help you with your courses, logging in, submitting, etc. Please read through and follow the steps. Student Forms that you might need to fill out for withdrawal, extensions, surveys etc. Click on the correct one and fill out the form.

Course Information on Moodle • Your Course Information page, shows you how many subjects you have to complete to get your Chosen Qualification and order to complete in • Example; Diploma of Business needs 8 units and is completed over two Semesters • Example; Certificate 3 needs 12 units and is completed over two semesters

Subjects to Complete • Refer to Assessment Timetable for your subject order and when to start each subject. • Assessment Timetable can be accessed in GTI Student Community, sent via email ‘Confirmation of Enrolment + Login Details’ and hard copy in your resources package • To start your subject click Here Bottom of Course Information Page

  18. Course Subjects on Moodle Unit Name Access your results and grades for this unit. More files and resources which can help you complete the unit. Access to assessment documents and where you must submit your assessment for each task.

  19. English Discoveries(Your online lessons )

  20. Logging onto ‘English Discoveries’ • Click on English Discoveries link from GTI Student Community Website or; • Login Instructions via Email ‘Confirmation of Enrolment + Login Details’ or; • Login from Student Online Area

Using English Discoveries Home Institution Page Community Assignments Assessments Grammar Book • Your Menu is on the left hand side which includes; • Institution Page – access to GTI website. • Community Page – access to your discussion forum, magazines, games etc. • Assignments Page –see what assignments are coming up and your grades from the teacher. • Assessments Page – shows the tests to take, results and upcoming tests. • Grammar Book – access to information about grammar and how to use grammar everyday grammar.

  22. Features on English Discoveries Top left hand side there are three icons: This is your dictionary – where you can search for the meaning of words. This icon shows you the ‘walkthrough’. It will show you where everything is on your online area. This icon gives you access to your profile, study plan and how to log out of English Discoveries.

  23. Units on English Discoveries • These are your online lessons for you to work through each week. • Click on the unit and see the individual components. • These units will include listening, speaking, reading and writing.

  24. Listening to Units • Have your computer on and make sure you have your speakers plugged in and turned on. • When listening to units click on the play button, listen and follow along with the dialogue. Click Play Follow along with video

Recording Units • Some units you will need to record yourself speaking • Listen to the video • Listen to the each sentence first • Pick the correct response • Then practice saying it out aloud • Make sure you have your recording device on and working • Then press the record button and repeat the sentence. Writing Units • In some units you will need to write words or sentences • Read the instructions first • Listen to the audio for each sentence • Write down, in the box provided, what you hear • Continue to listen to the audio until you have the full sentence Listen to individual words Write Here Listen Here Listen to sentences and see the sentence

Reading Units • In some units you will need to read and answer questions • Read through all the text first • Read through the questions • Find where the questions relate to the text • Click the correct answer • If you need help, down the bottom are some options. Read through text Answer questions – pick correct option Help Options

  28. How to complete the unit tests. • At the end of units you will have to do a test. • You need score of 80% or above to pass. Redo test until 80% or above • Listen to the video or read the text • Read the questions • Find where the questions relate to the text or video • Click the correct answer • Once completed click the next button
