Our Company For almost 50 years, SMIM IMPIANTI (located in Gela, south of Sicily) has been representing one of the leading companies in Europe for the design, fabrication, erection and maintenance of pressure equipment, such as: distillation columns, fractionation towers, heat exchangers, reactors, pressure vessels, condensers, storage tanks, gas separators, gas scrapers. 6. Technical Department and Project Management With over 30 engineers and project managers we consider this department as the engine of our business. As independent business unit, the mission is to provide design services to our clients as well as technical support to our production divisions. The department is organized in different sections, so as to support our clients from project inception to commissioning: • Pressure Vessels • Plant Design (piping, civil and electrical) • Instrumentation • Procurement • Planning and Project Controls • Project Management All our engineers are constantly trained and educated to the correct use of the international applicable codes, rules and standards (ASME, TEMA, NEMA, NACE, API UNI, ISO EN, etc.). Moreover the use and training of the most reliable software for design and calculations (CAE CAM 3D) classify our technical department as an excellence group. The project management section is dedicated to translating the requirements of our clients into a number of actions executed on schedule and with the most advanced HSE and quality standards, in full compliance with the expectations of our clients.

Fabrication A half century of experience and Know-how supported by the most innovative and modern production equipment, such as: • Automatic and semiautomatic welding machines • Digital Lathes up to Φ1600 mm • Plate bending machines up to 50 mm Exceptional capability to operate different production processes with a wide variety of materials such as: Carbon steel, Low Temperature Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Alluminum, Copper, Nickel, Zinc and all kinds of alloys used in the petrochemical environment. Our internal QA/QC department is such as to assure the requuired quality in compliance with the most common national and international codes and standards: ASME, TEMA “R”, ISPESL, PED, ATEX, VSR and many others. We can fulfil any requests of our clients by providing them with a broad range of customized Equipment: Industrial furnaces, reactors, stripping columns, heat exchangers, boilers, air coolers, gas separators (two and three phases) pressure vessels and many others.

8. Erection New Installations This department is dedicated to the erection of large petrochemical plants, up-stream and down-stream, Off-Shore and On-Shore. In this field our commitment is to provide the best services at the best price in the best time! Revamping and Maintenance This department is also in charge to execute revamping of large plants, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance (i. e. FCC, Butaner, Topping, power, seawater desalìnation, wellhead facilities, etc.). Our capability is demonstrated by the long-lasting partnership established with ENI Gela refinery: SMIM IMPIANTI has always been awarded the maintenance activities for all the plants in the site. Maintenance services are executed on call 24 x 7 or on the basis of an agreed plant shut-down duration. As a result of a massive use of sophisticated equipment (heavy-duty cranes) and detailed time schedule, we can minimize the erection time and consequently client’s costs due to loss of production.

9. SMIM IMPIANTI strongly believes in the quality assurance of its production as a key to facing with the market challenge. For these reasons from 1980 we started the implementation of our own quality system with over 200 welding processes certified by an external body. In 1995 we decided to have our quality system certified by RINA in compliance with ISO 9001-2000 and UNI EN 729-2 1996.We are also ASME “U” and “R” certified since 2006. With the objective to ensure a high quality level of our production, we are particularly focused on the education and training of our NDT engineers. 11. Revamping and Maintenance of Process Plants SmimImpianti has been entrusted for the past 50 years with the maintenance of the Eni Gela refinery. This long-lasting activity has enabled us to accumulate a unique experience and to develop unparalleled skills in the regular maintenance as well as in the revamping of process plants. 13. Our Plans We are now vigorously pursuing an expansion of our business in the following areas: 1. Small-medium size EPC contracting After our latest positive experience with the well-head facilities at Cascina Cardano for Eni E&P, we are building up a dedicated team to tender for and subsequently execute EPC contracts up to € 50 million. 2. Package Supplies We are considering to get into this business for such package supplies wherein the main component is static equipment. More specifically, we are targeting certain units for seawater desalination and power plants (e.g., electro-chlorination system, carbon dioxide production plant, natural gas reducing station), as well as for polyolefins plants (e.g., monomers drying units, catalyst metering unit) and for any industries where skid-mounted units are envisaged (in this perspective, a potential area of interest can be the offshore installations). 3. Penetration into New Markets In the recent past we have initiated commercial actions in order to penetrate the markets in Libya and in Venezuela, including the establishment of office facilities. Our aim is to become a “local” contractor in the areas of EPC contracts, maintenance of refineries and petrochemical plants and refurbishment of heat exchangers.
