Banner Transfer Articulation Catherine Machado – Cuesta College
Prerequisite Clearance Options • Transfer Articulation – SOABGTA, SHATATC, SHATATR, STATGRD, SHATRNS, SHATAEQ, SHATERM • SOATEST • SHATRNS • CAPP Prerequisites using attributes • Other???
Why Transfer Articulation? • Perform articulation once which applies for all students. • Consistent articulation. • In anticipation of implementing Degree Works. • Banner supports this use for prerequisites. • Counselors perform articulation. • Data entry staff set up college articulation and enter individual student course information from transcripts in Banner.
SOATEST • Set up a mock test score for each subject (math, English, physics, etc.) with different scores for each level. • Add test scores as prerequisites at the catalog level. • Create legend to indicate prerequisite for each level. • Simple data entry.
SHATRNS • Enter transfer courses that act as prerequisites one time only for that particular student. • Articulation re-occurs at the time each transcript is received. • Articulation may vary. • No institution set up. • Similar data entry to Banner Transfer Articulation at the student level. • May disrupt gpa calculation.
Our Experience • Initially decided to use Banner Transfer Articulation to clear college prerequisites and SOATEST for high school prerequisites. • Attempted to implement Fall 2008. • Postponed until Spring 2009. • Decided to use SOATEST method to meet firm Spring 2009 deadline set by Academic Senate. • Use of Banner Transfer Articulation proposed for a later date in conjunction with Degree Works implementation.
