Rosh Hashanah in Omaha

2. במהלך חודש אלול בבית הספר פרידל שבאומהה תלמידי גן אילת התכוננו לראש השנההתאמנו בתקיעת שופר During month Elul, the children of” Eilat” class in Friedel school, Omaha, got ready for Rosh Hashanah and practiced playing the Shofar

3. הילדים הכינו חלות עגולותThe children prepared round Challa

4. מכיוון שבאומהה לא נמצאו רימונים אמיתיים הילדים קישטו רימון בגרעינים – (צבע אדום בעזרת מקל ניקוי אוזניים)As we do not have pomegranates in Omaha, so, the children decorated pomegranates with red colored seeds

5. הילדים למדו על יאנוש קורצ'אק והסכימו איתו שאכן "שכל ילד צריך עפיפון לעוף איתו על כנפי הדמיון\רוח"הילדים כתבו ברכות לשנה טובה וקשטו את העפיפונים The children learnt about Yanush Kortchak and agreed with him that every child needs a kite to fly with it on the wings of imagination. They wrote blessing cards for “Shana Tova” and decorated the kites

6. הילדים למדו שצדקה היא גם מעשה של נתינה ולא רק תרומת כסף והם חילקו כרטיסי ברכה וחיוכים לחברים והחברות בבית הזקנים היהודיThe children learnt that Tzdaka is about giving and not just donating money and they gave Rosh Hashanah cards end smiles to the members of the Jewish parents home

7. הורי התלמידים שלחו להם כרטיסי שנה טובה ושמו אותו בתיבת דואר אדומה – ממש כמו בישראלThe children’s parents sent holiday cards and put them in a red mail box, just like in Israel

8. כפעילות מסכמת – בערב ראש השנה – נסעו כל תלמידי בית הספר לפארק שנקרא על שם Chief Standing Bearהילדים אספו אשפה וניקו את הפארק לכבוד יום הולדת של העולם/ראש השנה As part of the closing activity for the holiday, all of the school students went to Chief Standing Bear park to collect garbage and clean the park for the birthday of the world: Rosh Hashanah

10. לבסוף השליכנו את החטאים למקור מים זורמיםFinally we threw our sins to a flowing water גם סבא וסבתא באו לתשליך Grandfather and grandmother also came for the Tashlich

11. הילדים העיפו את הברכות לשנה החדשה שעל העפיפונים The children flew the kites with the new year blessings בפארק פגשו הילדים זחל רעבIn the park , the children met a hungry caterpillar

14. שיחקו משחקי זיכרון אינדיאנים We played Indian's memory games

15. ולאחר ארוחת צהרים פקניקית ברכו ברכת המזון על הדשא עם הילדים הגדוליםAfter having a picnic for lunch, we had “Birkat Hamazon “on the lawn , together with the older children

16. והנה כוווולם תלמידי גן-ו' בסוף לפני שאמרו "להתראות בשנה הבאה"Here are all of us- from kindergarten to the sixth grade before saying: “See you next year”
