  2. The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) 2020 Annual Meeting is organized by the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP). The session will be held from Feb 29 - Mar 05, 2020 at Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, California, United States of America. Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Certi?cation: The 109th USCAP Annual Meeting and its associated events will offer Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Certi?cation (CC) and Self-Assessment Module (SAM) credits. With over 100 sessions offering CME and SAM, an individual will be empowered to earn up to 48.75 CME credits and 44.75 SAM credits. Hot Topics 2020: • The Testis: From Grossing to Reporting • Quality Assurance • Business Use and Case study for Implementing Telepathology • Trends in GI Pathology Killer on the Loose? Precursor Escape and Ovarian Carcinogenesis Tuesday, March 3, 2020 LACC West Exhibit Hall B | 4:15 PM Available Credit 1 CME Description Dr. Crum will trace and outline the researches on ovarian cancer, highlighting the impact of pathology on the quest for prevention of ovarian cancer. Integral to the examination has been performed to obtain the truths that quietly await recognition of a tissue section under a light microscope. During this research, a pathologist must continually question his or her assumptions and test the emerging hypotheses, while striving for meaningful discovery. Create PDF in your applications with the Pdfcrowd HTML to PDF API Learning Objectives: • Recite the pathologic characteristics and pathogenetic signi?cance of the pseudo- endometrioid solid and transitional patterns (A.K.A. SET) of high-grade serous carcinoma • Describe two pathways to intra-peritoneal high-grade serous carcinoma originating in the distal fallopian tube • Understand the role of “precursor escape” to both endometrioid and serous cancer, its frequency, and its impact on its early detection and prevention ○ Programmable Genome Engineering Using CRISPR Technology Monday, March 2, 2020

  3. LACC West Exhibit Hall B | 4:15 PM Available Credit 1 CME Description Few discoveries transform a discipline overnight, but scientists today can manipulate cells in ways hardly imaginable before, thanks to a peculiar form of adaptive immunity mediated by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR). From elegant studies that deciphered how these immune systems function in bacteria, researchers quickly uncovered the technological potential of Cas9, an RNA-guided DNA cleaving enzyme, for genome engineering. Today, this core capability is being harnessed for a wide variety of ambitious applications, including human therapeutics, agricultural improvement, and the elimination of certain infectious diseases. In my talk, I will describe the discovery and basic function of CRISPR technology and highlight the different ways this technology is being developed. I will end by reviewing recent advances in our understanding of CRISPR biology, which continue to inspire exciting technological innovation. Learning Objectives: • Understand how the research on bacterial immune system led to the discovery of CRISPR– Cas • Comprehend the precise introduction of DNA. Here, Double-strand breaks act as a trigger for gene editing applications • Learn how the concept of CRISPR is applied to treat human disease and understand the distinction between somatic and germline gene editing interventions ○ Long Course: Major Advances in the Diagnosis and Management of Breast Diseases Wednesday, March 4, 2020 LACC 408 B | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Available Credit 5.5 CME, 4.0 SAM Create PDF in your applications with the Pdfcrowd HTML to PDF API Description Diagnostic breast pathology has become more complex with the recognition of novel molecular subtypes of breast cancer delivering the new therapeutic strategies; the de-escalation therapy in a patient with ductal carcinoma in situ; the augmentation of morphologic patterns of lobular carcinoma in situ; An ongoing challenge of scienti?c categorization of papillary and ?broepithelial lesions; the shift towards fewer surgical excisions following diagnosis of benign and atypical lesions on core needle biopsy ; the panoply of immunohistochemical stains and ancillary molecular tests are available to endorse the diagnosis and manage neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies. The purpose of this course is to provide practitioners in pathology with a focus to diagnose breast lesions which are both common and less commonly encountered.

  4. Some of the top experts in the ?eld will present their approach to these challenges, as well as provide knowledge on the latest guidelines, recommendations, and management strategies. Target Audience • Practicing Academic Pathologists • Practicing Community Pathologists • Pathologists-in-training Course Objectives • Update Current trends on Recent Advances in Diagnostic Breast Pathology • Recognize the Rami?cations of Pathologic Diagnoses in Light of Evolving Management Strategies • Understand the Molecular Underpinnings of Breast Tumors and Their Associated Therapeutic Impact 10 Speaking View All Elizabeth Anne Montgomery Pamela Irene Hartzband Rhonda K.
