Faithful Unto Death Rev. 2:10
Introduction • Rev. 2:10 • What does it mean to be faithful unto death? • Includes being faithful to the point of dying for the faith and remaining faithful until the end of life
Introduction • NOTE-just because a Christian sins does not mean they have become unfaithful in the sense of abandoning the faith and returning to the sinful ways of the world • All Christians sin from time to time • 1 Jn. 1:8
Introduction • Christians cannot continue in sin! • Rom. 6:1-2 • To continue in sin is to become unfaithful
Introduction • The Key to remaining faithful is to recognize that we sin, confess our sins, and ask for God’s forgiveness • 1 Jn. 1:9 • What are some things we may do in order to remain faithful?
I. Every Day Let God Say Something To Us • Study the Word of God • 2 Tim. 2:15 • Ps. 119:105 • Acts 17:11
II. Every Day Say Something To God • Pray • Ps. 66:18 • Prov. 28:9 • “Prayer will stop sin or sin will stop prayer” • Js. 5:16
III. Every Day Say Something For God • Our speech and manner of life should bring glory to God • Phil. 1:27 • Mt. 5:16
IV. Every Day Do Something For God • Gal. 6:10 • Js. 5:19-20 • 1 Cor. 15:58
Conclusion • If we do become unfaithful we must: • Sincerely repent • Confess our sins • Pray for God’s forgiveness • This is God’s “second law of pardon”
Conclusion • God’s first law of pardon is for the alien sinner • Faith • Repentance • Confession of faith in Christ • Baptism into Christ
Conclusion • “The world needs to understand and obey God’s first law of pardon; the erring Christian needs to apply God’s second law of pardon; and the two do not need to be confused and wrongly applied.” Hugh Fulford
Conclusion • “May every child of God realize that he/she can be faithful unto death! In spite of snares, temptation, and difficulties.” Hugh Fulford • Rom. 8:37
