  2. header • This is the header area. • It shows the business’ name, address and phone number. • What other information could be included in the header?

  3. logo • Most businesses have a logo, which would be included on all of their business documents. • Many businesses have a ‘house style’. This means that they will always use certain fonts or colour schemes. • This makes their business documents easy to recognise.

  4. address • This is the address of the person that the letter will be sent to. • Mrs Anne Example is one of the company’s customers. • The address has been lined up (justified) to the left.

  5. date • Business letters always include a date. • The date is usually lined up (justified) to the right.

  6. salutation • The main part of the letter starts with the words:Dear Mrs Example • This part of a letter is always lined up (justified) to the left.

  7. text • The text in this letter has been broken up into short paragraphs. • Most businesses know that their customers are more likely to read a short letter!

  8. signature • At the end of the letter there is a signature to show who it is from. • The person’s name and job title are usually printed underneath the signature. • This signature uses a font that looks like handwriting.

  9. footer • This is the footer. • It might contain the business’ motto, the names of the directors or logos for awards the business has won. • What will you put in the footer on your letter?
