From needs to rights • Many governments around the world came to an agreement about what everyone in the world needs to live. They decided to protect these needs by law, and called them rights. • They made a list of these rights and called the list the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. • Later, they decided we needed extra laws especially to protect children. • They made a new list called the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. • Let’s look at these RIGHTS and see what you think of them.
