Chairman: B.N. Navalwala (Advisor to Chief Minister). Recommendation: Use of existing dam storages for recharging fast depleting aquifers in Gujarat. Continue…
SEARCH OF NEW SOURCE FOR URBAN WATER SHORTAGE, 27/03/2009 Study: a) Underground storage potentials. b) Source of surplus water in basin. c) Inter basin transfer of resources for MAR- Managed Aquifer Recharge. d) Ground water quality surveillance. Projection & warning: Alarming decline in annual water availability in most parts of Gujarat to 400 m3/ capita for 2020. (Water level to minimum for scares condition is 2000 m3/capita/year) Flood in Tapti around Surat spill on banks of river Tapti flooding sq.kms even with releases of 2 - 3 lakhs, can be harvested to by recharging aquifers.
