  4. …but the means for testing the ideas are limited • restricted to small spatial scale • entails low number of users • involves few stakeholders • spans a short period of time • ignores the interplay of several interoperable technologies • …

The eSomeplacetown project • Bring technology into the urban space • WLAN, Bluetooth connectivity etc… • Invite companies in that area to participate • build services… study them perhaps… • 2 out of 10 companies participate (=good!) • What about the remaining 8? • Why were they not interested? • What about those who we did not ask? • residents, non-profit organizations, service-sector, children, skateboarders, tourists, people passing by…

Student projects & thesis work? • The structure of the database? • Accessible, scalable, flexible… • How is the data updated? • Today & in the future ? • In sum: a portable toolkit • The purpose is not to build technology and services to some area !! • Robust R&D instrument that can be used in other parts of the city or in other cities !!
