Corridors Retained for further study: B – U.S. Route 220/WV Route 93 C – Knobley Road D – MD Route 53/U.S. Route 220 Corridors A & E are eliminated due to general environmental impacts Corridors B & C provide direct service to the City of Cumberland Corridor D runs from LaVale (Along MD Route 53) to Moorefield, WV

Proposed highway upgrade must provide direct access to Cumberland in order to: • Reinforce City’s role as economic & growth center of Allegany County & Promote Revitalization • Promote Maryland’s Smart Growth Policies & City’s Comprehensive Plan • Address/Alleviate Long-Standing & Projected Traffic Safety and Congestion Issues On Route 220 Between Cresaptown & I-68 • Reinforce the potential for future upgrades to U.S. Highway 220 North from Cumberland to I-99 • Report’s Executive Summary Must Acknowledge The Study’s “Independent Utility” Finding for the U.S. 220 and U.S. 219 Corridors Staff recommended comments
