  2. COLD PLATE AND ICE BIN Out Ice Bin In Cold Plate

  3. COLD PLATE The Cold Plate is located on the floor of the Ice Bin. The ice that lays on top is used for dispensing, but it also acts as the cooling agent to chill the water, brand syrups and soda water prior to dispensing. OUTLETS FOR CARBONATED WATER OUTLETS FOR PLAIN WATER Out WATER INLET TO CARBONATOR PUMP 10º Pitch front to back WATER INLET FOR PLAIN WATER DRINKS SYRUP INLETS CARBONATOR PROBE FITING

  4. COLD PLATE THEORY In Out Syrup and water circuits Heat is removed from water, soda and brand syrups during circulation through the cold plate.

  5. COLD PLATE COOLING Liquid exits cold Cold Plate Liquid enters warm

  6. COLD PLATE CIRCUITS CARBONATED WATER OUTLETS ORIFICE (HIDDEN FROM VIEW) PRE-CHILL CIRCUIT POST-CHILL CIRCUIT CARBONATOR TANK “PICTURE FRAME” OF 2” DIAMETER TUBING AROUND TUBING BUNDLES OUTLETS OUT OF CARBONATOR TANK, TO POST-CHILL CIRCUIT Water Level

  7. ICE BRIDGING Ice Bridging In Out As the ice that is cooling the water and syrups melts, there is a tendency to create a hollow cavity in the ice just above the cold plate. This condition is referred to as “Ice Bridging”. The efficiency of the cooling is greatly reduced for the ice is no longer in contact with the cold plate.

  8. ICE BRIDGING An agitator bar inside the ice bin rotates to break up the Ice Bridging and assures that the cold plate is covered with ice.

  9. ICE AGITATION Agitator bars break up the bridging each time the wheel carries ice up to ice chute for dispensing. Plus there is also periodic agitation when ice the dispensing is idle. Periodic agitation times are: 2 sec every 90 min’s - Cubed 4 sec every 150 min’s - Pellett

  10. CONTROLLING THE ICE LEVEL Cube bin thermostat capillary tube holder (P/N 82-3939) Ice Machine Ice Adapter Plate 6 to 9” • Maximum Ice Level below top of unit: • 6” for cubed • 9” for Cubelet Install bin thermostat between ice maker and dispenser to control ice level Cubelet bin thermostat capillary tube holder Controlling the ice level within the bin is important to the cooling process . Too low a level could cause run outs, too much can effect the efficiency of the agitation.
