  2. The Pros: • Aggressive government intervention is better than no intervention at all. • We needed jobs. We needed money. We needed government spending. We needed protection of our industries. • In cases of distress, American laws provide for the overstep of conventional government boundaries

  3. The Cons • The entire concept was un-American! • How could we sacrifice our beliefs for short term relief? • The government was not doing its duty by overstepping boundaries • The crisis will resolve itself.

  4. Some New Deal policies…

  5. Ultimately… • It took the WWII to get the Americans back onto their feet. • However, the New Deal did help those that were otherwise overlooked, such as the lower classes. • Was the New Deal a success? • YOU DECIDE
