About Mrs. Thomas • 19 years of teaching experience • All overseas • Guam (George Washington High School: 2 years • Qatar (American School of Doha): 7 years • Belgium (Antwerp International School: 3 years • Venezuela (ColegioInternacional Puerto la Cruz): 5 years • Colombia (CNG): this is my third year

  4. Professional • Bachelor’s of English with 7-12 certification, Colorado State University- 1991 • Master’s of Library Science, University of N. Texas- 2009 • I have worked as a librarian (part and full time) for 3 years, in addition to teaching middle or high school English

  5. Personal • Married in 1991 to Wendell Thomas (HS Chemistry teacher at CNG) • 4 kids who attend CNG

  6. Tools for Success • Access to a computer with Internet at home • Binder OR computer (or iPad) for class • Pencils, pens, special materials as needed (for projects or in-class activities)

Teaching & Learning Philosophy… • Student learn best when… • They are DOING- not by passively receiving information (constructivism) • they go through the process with others (social constructivism) • they cooperate with others, explain their learning to others, and create something meaningful to represent that learning to others (constructionism).
