Project Requirements • Maintain Access to Air Rights Parking Garage • Provide Direct Access to Route 34 • Both Directions Instead of Just Eastbound • New Connection To Highway (Off Ramp) • Provide Access For Trucks to Loading Dock in Garage • Allow Upper Levels of Garage to Exit to Route 34 • New Internal Ramp Connection

Project Issues • Roundabouts Are Very New to Connecticut! • Expressway Ramp Connection to a Roundabout • High Speed to Low Speed • Access Control System for Parking Garage • Entering Traffic Thru Roundabout Must Stop at Gate • Need Separate Car and Truck Access Control Systems • Jurisdictional Maintenance • ConnDOT, City of New Haven and Parking Authority • Reuse of Abandoned Expressway Pavement • Short Entrance Ramp • Large Truck Access
