  2. Space dogs going to space • Laika is a hero, she was the first living being to orbit the Earth. Laika had to go through training before she had to travel into space. • Laika’s name in Russian means barker. • Stelka and Belka were the first to orbit the earth and safely return. The two Russian dogs went around the Earth eighteen times .They also became famous when they came back.

  3. Monkeys and Chimps • Thirty chimpanzees travelled from Africa to enroll in training classes. Monkeys like stratosphere Mike ,Abel and Miss Baker were doing the same thing in the USA doing space jumps in Russia • The first flight in 1961 was assigned to a cheerful chimp , called Ham. Ham flew 250 kilometers into space before splashing down safely in Atlantic ocean.

  4. Pioneer Space travel helped other animals First know spider web to be woven in space was achieved by Arabella the ‘space spider’ . Arabella was sent into space to see if she could weave a web in zero gravity. In the 1960’s , cats did space jumps for France and cats were known as Astrocats.
