  2. Les tsunamis • Un tsunami, c’est un brutal déplacement d’eau au fond des océans, provoqué par un séisme, par un glissement de terrain ou une éruption volcanique.

  3. Manifestation • C’est une vague qui va de 20 à 80 mètres de hauteur à une vitesse de 40 km/h.

  4. Peut-on le détecter ? • Oui, on peut détecter les tsunamis par des satellites.

  5. Dates et lieux des derniers évènements importants • 18 novembre 1929, Terre-Neuve, 28 victimes, un séisme de magnitude de 7,2 à 400 km au sud de Terre-Neuve, il a produit des vagues de 15 mètres de haut. • 28 décembre 1908, Messine et Calabre, 95 000 victimes, dont 80 000 à Messine sur une population de 140 000 habitants.
