  3. Connotation • The figurative cultural assumptions that the image implies or suggests. It involves emotional overtones, subjective interpretations, socio-cultural values, and ideological assumptions.

  4. Examples • Denotation-Stop (without words we recognize the meaning from the shape and the color) • Connotation-Risk (accident or ticket)
