Leicestershire Domestic Abuse Referral Pathway as at April 2013 When in doubt call the Helpline 0300 303 1844 A person discloses domestic abuse or a worker has concerns Follow agency procedures on reporting immediate safeguarding concerns to the police and safeguarding for the victim and any associated children, young people and adults in need of safeguarding Are you trained to complete a DASH Risk Assessment? Is it your professional judgement that the case is high risk? Make an immediate referral to IDVA NO YES YES NO Does victim wish to be referred to a DA support service at this time? Make an immediate referral to victim’s local domestic abuse outreach service Provide contact details & information about the Leicestershire Domestic Abuse Helpline 0300 303 1844 YES NO Is risk 14 or more? Is risk lower than 13? Is risk 13 or lower but your professional judgement is that risk is higher? NO NO YES YES YES Refer to IDVA (with a copy of the DASH) or Agencies with a MODUS log on can refer direct to MARAC Seek victim consent - although this is NOT required With victim consent, refer to relevant Domestic Abuse Outreach service.* (Share completed DASH) *The details for local domestic abuse providers can always be found on the LCC domestic abuse website and are promoted by each service at district level. Also hosted are relevant referral forms and contact details. http://www.leics.gov.uk/index/community/yjsc/community_safety/domestic_violence_info/support_referrals.htm ** IDVA are required to respond to referrals within 2 working days. Where a DASH is provided, the IDVAs are equipped with the information they need to immediately respond to risks, including referral to MARAC where it reaches threshold. A proactive start will reduce the escalation of risk and maximise effectiveness of the safeguarding response. *** MARAC referrals completed through MODUS instantly trigger an IDVA referral.
