Policy Rules for Open 2LDs • Eligibility and allocation rules for each 2LD • com.au and net.au for commercial purposes • asn.au and org.au for non-profit purposes • id.au for individuals • “close and substantial connection rule” • auDA will delete domain names that breach policy rules
Domain Monetisation • Domain names can be registered for monetisation with 2 conditions of use: • content on monetised website must be related specifically and predominantly to domain name • domain name must not be or incorporate entity, personal or brand name • auDA will delete domain names that breach this policy
Misspellings • Registering misspellings of entity, personal or brand names is prohibited • Eg. gooogle.com.au, utube.net.au • List of prohibited misspellings audited daily • 2000+ names on list • auDA will delete domain names that breach this policy
2010 Names Policy Panel • 12 month policy review and public consultation process • Final report delivered in August 2011 • changes to .au registration policies for org.au, id.au • changes to domain monetisation policy • release of single character domain names • change to domain name licence period

Security • DNSSEC Implementation Strategy • monitor AusRegistry’s DNSSEC implementation for new gTLDs • set up DNSSEC WG to involve wider industry stakeholders
Outreach • auDA Foundation • 2011 funding round - 17 projects awarded total of $311,765 • Aust & NZ Internet Awards (ANZIAs) • partnership between auDA and InternetNZ • categories include security, diversity, innovation, IPv6
