  7. Point One – Introductory email You have scheduled an online tutoring session! In order for the eTutor to help you, please follow these steps prior to your session: Step 1: Please check our Facebook page to find more information about what’s going on in The OASIS, and don’t forget to view the video about how to work with an online tutor on the bottom, left-hand side of the page. Step 2: You need to have a Skype account and have Skype downloaded and installed on your computer. Step 3: Make sure you have a functioning microphone and speakers connected to your computer. Optionally, you may also have a video camera if you wish to be on camera during the session. Your eTutor will be on camera, but you are not required to be. *** You can check your microphone and speaker settings on Skype by clicking on “Tools” – “Options” – “Audio Settings”. Step 4: Please have your assignment saved to the computer from which you will be working. In addition, please bring the prompt given to you by your professor so the eTutor can get a good understanding of your assignment. Step 5: When it is time for your online tutoring session, please make sure that you are in a quiet area free of distractions. Also, please turn off your cell phone and shut down all programs on your computer with the exception of Skype and the program in which you have your assignment. Step 6: Please sign on Skype at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time of your eTutoring session and wait for the eTutor to contact you.
