CathEdNet The CathEdNet virtual private network (VPN) provides: • Broadband - fast speed access • Cheap local and STD calls (it is a data and communication VPN) • Free download costs once sites are cached within the VPN • Connectivity, enabling collaboration and the formation of partnerships and resource sharing to occur between schools and Notre Dame

  3. CathEdNet • Remote Access To the work desktop and school database (anytime, anywhere- with dial-up or ADSL connect options) • Staff Messenger Service • myinternet intranet services

Administration tools for: Filtering, spam control and anti virus protection Web Site hosting Monitoring internet use and cost control facilities Security- establishing password rights and restrictions Uploading tools for resource storage, sharing and display The myinternet Portal myinternet Help Desk PD and mentoring mydesktop properties for administration and curriculum use: e.g. survey tools, notice boards, calendars, listservers, discussion groups, journals, text & imageproprieties that can be used within the school or throughout the deployment mymail, internet access and bookmark facilities, and now • myclasses a new product which allows teachers to produce: • Class pages for use curriculum and pastoral use • online student activities managed by the teacher (called elearning folios), which are accessible in class, at home, in other classes within the school or shared throughout the whole VPN. http://www.ceo.wa.edu.au/myclasses Myclasses provides access to the Learning Federation’s online content and learning objects and other Portals (e.g. EdNA). It has advanced meta data search facilities

The myinternet Portal The CathEdNet CWP has a vision for the myinternet Portal “A One Stop Shop” for all schools and a Gateway for other Portals, Applications and Repositories. myinternet is a product that needs no further support personnel and support structures in your school. School based myinternet administrators are already in place in schools supported by myinternet Melbourneand a localmyinternetHelp Desk and data centre maintained by the CEO. A mentoring program is in placeand we have ongoing PD. Teachers will have only one product to become familiar with to do all curriculum and administration services... A provider of all curriculum and administration products with the same interface for ease of use. • In addition to the new product myclasses, we are trialling: • Videoconferencing tools with Microbits , and • Pastoral care, monitoring, tracking and reporting tools- using MarksBook • To put within the myinternet portal. Different products arebeing considered for the delivery of Online Accreditation, PD registration and Leadership Programs.
