The Basics • The legislative branch of Georgia is known as the GENERAL ASSEMBLY • It is made up of a State SENATEand a State HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES • State Senate • 56members • State House of Representatives • 180members
Qualifications • State Senators (SENATE) • Must be at least 25 • LIVEin the DISTRICTthey represent • Legal resident of GEORGIAfor at least 2years • State Representatives (HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES) • Must be at least 21 • LIVEin the DISTRICTthey represent • Legal resident of GEORGIAfor at least 2years

Organization of the General Assembly and Leadership • The most important leader of the Senate is the Lieutenant GOVERNOR. He/she is the PRESIDINGOFFICERorpresident of the Senate (leader of Senate), and he/she DOES NOT have a VOTEin the Senate. VOTE
