2. Our Mission To be a catalyst for connectionsamong diverse and distinguished MU collegian leaders and alumnae. ------ Through lifelong learning, mentoringandleadership development, members stimulate their potential and that of other MU women while supporting the best interests of MIZZOU.

3. Our Purpose • Further the goals of MIZZOU women • Promote excellence and learning through mentoring relationships • Create networking and leadership opportunities • Promote personal and professional achievement

4. About Griffiths • Created in 2005 to establish an influential network of women • Program of the MIZZOU Alumni Association • First conference was held in Fall 2005 and offered semi-annually

5. Martha Wright Griffiths • 1934 MU Economics grad • Practiced law, presided as judge, served 10 terms as U.S. Representative & was the first female lieutenant governor of Michigan • Successfully worked for the inclusion of women in the Civil Rights Act & Equal Rights Amendment

6. Mizzou Alumni Association Griffiths is sponsored by MAA, which includes: • 35,000+ members • Founded in 1853 • More than 1,100 alumni events last year attended by more than 91,000 people • 21 Missouri and 54 Regional chapters

7. Who We Are in Griffiths … • Diverse professional career paths from science, engineering & liberal arts to business • Located from D.C. to Texas to California • Varied talents, expertise and interests

8. Three Membership Categories • 41 Collegian members • 71 Alumnae members • 53 EDNA members

9. Collegian Members • Upper-class women (undergraduate) • Graduate students • One-year terms, renewable until graduation • Paired with an alumnae member who serves as a mentor

10. Alumnae Members • Over age 25 • Must be MAA member (annual or life) • Serve two 3-year terms • Paired as a mentor with one or more Collegian members

11. Edna Members • Martha’s middle name – but also “Excellent Divas Not Active!” • Terms completed, collegian and alumnae • No specific mentoring role • Receive newsletter, access the website • Attend conferences (fees apply)

12. What Does Being a Member Mean? • Attend conferences to learn and contribute • Get to know your mentor/collegian • Network, contribute to and benefit from many members! • Minimum: • Participate in at least one conference/year • Pay dues • Respond when members call

17. Write down goals for why you’re a member Call or contact your mentor pair partner-Follow up – Remember birthdays. Contact any member – even if just to ‘update you or say hi’! Ask about challenging times Be open to members from other professions Be active in your relationships Mentoring Do’s

18. Get Involved! ‘Reap what you sow’ • Attend BOTH conferences each year • Maximize your mentoring relationship • Join the book club • Attend any regional, informal gatherings (alumnae) • Attend campus activities (collegians)
