  4. “Sustainability Council” • Administrative-level Committee • Consists of Directors and VP’s from key affected areas • Purchasing and Distribution • PR & Marketing • Hospital Operations/Services • Facilities Management • Medical Group Ops • Physician “Champion” • Compliance • Nutrition • Wellness • Nursing • Finance • Facilities Planning

  5. Sustainability Council Function • Generate “high-level” ideas • Held accountable for progress within their domains • Review and approve Green Team initiatives that go beyond the department level • Meets quarterly with report-outs from each member • Review problem areas and develop fixes

  6. (Core) Green Team • “Power Generator” of Ideas • Brainstorming • Green activities • Education • Auditing • Promotion • Research • Energy conservation • Wellness

  7. Green Team Members • As much cross section as possible to generate more cross-pollination of ideas • Always looking for more participation, especially Nursing • Radiology • Environmental Services • Nursing • Wellness • Health & Safety • Facilities Planning • Facilities Management • OR • Lab • Nutrition • Psych • PR • Outpatient, Medical Group • In-house construction

Function-specific Green Teams • Laboratory & Pathology Services • Paper reduction • Chemical disposal • Safety Committee • Staff education • Waste auditing • Facilities Management • Refrigeration • Energy consumption, thermostats, HVAC, etc • “Green renovations” checklist • Satellites (PCIMs, FPs) • EPP (Environmentally Preferable Purchasing) • Perhaps one of the most important groups • Looks “Upstream” • All report through the Core Green Team

  9. Green Ambassadors • Mostly Green Team members • “Promote from within” • Provide education • Oversee education and ‘compliance’ within their groups • Assist with auditing • Provide add’l ideas • Promote department-specific initiatives
