HISTORY • 1859 – Med School established • 1860-1920 – Sporadic growth • 1925 – Montgomery Ward building • 1930s – 3rd largest/largest dental • 1964 – reference room/3 stories/reading room • 1970s & 80s – serial publications fall behind. Automated library systems – circulation 1986 • 1993 – industry leading online system acquisition of MEDLINE services. • 1994 – Open floor plan expansion • 50 computer carrels/4 study rooms/6 fully equipped rooms

TODAY • Focus on collaboration, personalized service, and technological advances. • HealthWeb – organize and record websites for cataloging • Collaboration w/ Big 10 and U of C • Server and webmaster • Health Smart Library – use multiple technologies to get info. to specialists • Personalized • registration
