International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • What is it? • It is a 2 week international exchange with • Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (Near Frankfurt) • OR HAW Hamburg University • 1 wk Giessen 13-17 May 2013 &1 wk in Edinburgh 23-27 September 2013 • OR • 1 wk Hamburg 12-16 Aug 2013 & 1 wk in Edinburgh 10-14 Feb 2014
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • What is it? • Chance to work in international teams to develop a business idea. • Workshops Mon- Fri • Travel out Sat / Sun before • Travel back Sat / Sun after • Hosted by a student in their home and you are expected to host student when they visit us. Those who can host will be given priority in awarding places.
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • Why take part? • Opportunity to meet students from another country and build teams around an idea. • Allows you to put an international experience on your CV • Chance to meet new friends, some of whom we hope you will stay in contact with. • New networks, entrepreneurs, studies, areas of interest • ACADEMIC CREDIT!
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • Why take part? • ACADEMIC CREDIT! • This is a CO-CURRICULAR MODULE • 60% of module mark is from participation during the 2 weeks. • 2 assignments are required each accounting for 20% of module mark. • You can still participate and not work for the credits...
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • Who can participate? • Any Napier student who will still be matriculated in academic year 2013/14 • Post-graduates can participate but must be able to commit to being available in Sept 13 or Feb 14
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • What will it cost £200 • This includes; • Return minibus travel from arrival airport to the university (specific flights only) • Accommodation with buddy & you being a buddy • University insurance for the duration of the overseas travel • A number of meals during both weeks • Tea, coffee and water both weeks • All tuition, materials, printer credits both weeks • Mini bus travel for company visits
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • What is NOT included? - Flights • Tutors will travel on a budget airline and transport will be organised to take all those on this same flight onwards to Giessen / Hamburg. You will be given the flight details when you pay your deposit. • Flights approx. - £100 return at present for May or Aug
What is NOT included? Buddy hosting fund - £100 This money is paid with your second instalment and is REFUNDABLE to you on completion of Week 2 of IEEP - AS LONG AS you have participated and hosted a buddy. If you do not attend Week 2 or host your buddy as promised, you will forfeit your £100.
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • What do I do next? • Complete an application form. • If you wish to do it electronically, please add your contact details to the sheet and Janey McDowall will send you an electronic copy of the form. • Please indicate preference / no preference for partner university • If you wish to hand-write, please take a form and return to Janey in Room 2/24 at Craiglockhart Campus. She is available Mon – Thurs 11-1 to receive applications. Outwith these times leave your form in the folder outside her office.
International Entrepreneurship Exchange Programme • Then what happens? • We interview all applicants and select 15 students with a range of backgrounds and subject areas, ugs and pgs. Interviews will shortly take place, probably at Merchiston Campus, and we shall keep you advised in this regard. • When you are offered a place you are required to pay your £100 deposit within 1 week. • The balance £200 (including Buddy Fund contribution – which is refundable) needs to be paid 6 weeks before the departure of your exchange. • If you are not selected, we will notify you and ask if you wish to be put on the reserve list.
VISASIf you are a non EU passport holder you will require a visa to visit Germany. It is your responsibility to find out about this through the German immigration website. There is a German consulate office in Edinburgh and we can provide you with a letter of invitation to Germany to take to the consulate together with your application form. This process takes about one week but if you are successful in being accepted onto IEEP, we would ask you organise as soon as your flights are booked.Ensure you arrange for correct dates …
