  6. Benefits of Off Grid Solar Power System Many rural places in remote regions are not yet connected to the public grid, and more than 1.5 billion people in the world have no electricity. Due to long distance and high connection costs, it is impossible to connect to the public grid. There are no basic power supply for buildings in the area: producing environmentally friendly power for lights, refrigerator and communication devices. Off Grid solar power systems improve the lifestyle of the local people.

The way off grid solar works is the energy collected from solar panels is combined into strings according to what voltage is desired. In the past, off grid solar voltages were limited to the voltage of the solar battery banks usually 12, 24, or 48 Vdc. Now with the advent of the power point tracking solar charge controller and off grid solar panel, off grid solar voltage is not as limited as before. The big difference between grid tie solar and off grid solar is the method of storage. Off grid solar is stored in a solar battery bank. Grid tie solar energy on the other hand is collected and stored on the electric companies electrical power grid. Once a properly designed off grid solar system stores the solar energy in the battery bank, an off grid inverter is used to convert the stored DC (direct current) energy into usable 220V AC for common household usage.
