Career • At the time that he graduated from medical school, black doctors were not allowed to work in Chicago hospitals. As a result, in 1891, Williams started the Provident Hospital (Chicago) and training school for nurses in Chicago, Illinois. This was established mostly for African-American citizens.[5] • Williams was the second to have successfully performed pericardium surgery to repair a wound.[6]Henry Dalton was the first.[6] Dalton successfully performed pericardium surgery to repair a wound in 1891, with the patient fully recovering.[7 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Hale_Williams
History dr,. Hale was the first black man to do open heart surgery Hospital and Training School Association. The school trained Black nurses and allowed doctors of all races. Williams insisted that the hospital have the highest standards of procedures and sanitary conditions. (So he was the best doctor.
History changer He is one of the very first people to perform open heart surgery which today saves millions of lives especially with modern technology and improved surgical procedures.
BIG MOMENTS Daniel hale was the first African American to preform open heart sugary. To some people that might not be big but to see how far we have come since those time with technology etc. is a very big change.
