The objective of this project is to dramatically improve the quality of education at Asha run or Asha supported centers near Lucknow and Varanasi over a period of four years. The quality of education at the 32 centers in the Lucknow and Varanasi areas leaves a lot to be desired. The teachers are generally volunteers with little training in teaching. Most of them have a 10th grade education and employ the methods they saw in their education. This proposal aims to provide teachers training to 65 teachers running 32 centers and will touch over 10,000 children over the four-year period. This includes children from about 50 villages in the districts of Lucknow, Hardoi, Varanasi, Gazipur, Chandauli and Ballia. Goals
