  2. Engines at NADEP JAX • Chrome free on TF-34, F 404, F414, F1D2 • NADEP Jacksonville has 3 J-52 parts remaining to be chrome free on all engines - Rear compressor drive turbine shaft #5 bearing journal - No. 4 bearing housing - Main oil pump spur gear shaft

  3. J52 Rear Compressor Drive Turbine Shaft HVOF Chromium Carbide/Nickel Chromium – 80/20 Prototype Produced in June, 1999 - Approval Pending

  4. J52 #4 Bear Housing Is presently still chrome plated J52 #4 Bear Housing Is Presently Chrome Plated Seeking approval via Similarity to TF-33 (AF) Housing

  5. J52 Main Oil Pump Spur Gear Shaft HVOF Tungsten Carbide/Cobalt – 83/17 Prototype Produced in June, 1999 - Approval Pending

Causes of Chrome-free Delays • NADEP JAX will be Chrome-free for all engines if & when the J52 FST Engineering approves the remaining parts and this has not happened because… • The J52 ASMET Test Engine that contains the subject parts has not been run. • Major issues in other areas are taking priority • Lack of willingness to implement process through engine & part similarity.
