Grade Weights-Math • 60% Classwork • 40% Unit Assessments and Quizzes
Recovery • Students will have the opportunity to recover all failed assessments. For the first semester they will receive the recovered grade for the first two assessments needing recovery. For any remaining assessments they will recover and receive a grade no higher than a 70. For second semester they will receive the recovered grade for the first failed assessment and then no higher than a 70 on any remaining assessments.
Homework • 45 min- 1 hr of iReady Math per week • Study Guides will go home 1-2 weeks prior to the test
Math Workshop • Problem of the Day • Word problems related to focus skill/unit of study • Whole Group Mini-lesson • Work Session • independent, partners, technology, small groups w/Mrs. Flaherty • Closing/Exit Ticket • Show what you know
Math Units - 4th grade • Unit 1- Whole numbers, place value, & rounding in computation • Unit 2- Multiplication & Division of Whole numbers • Unit 3- Fraction Equivalents • Unit 4- Operations with Fractions • Unit 5- Fractions and Decimals • Unit 6- Geometry • Unit7- Measurement • Unit 8- Show what we know
How Can I Help My Child with Math? • Practice multiplication facts 6 through 9. • One Fact at a time • Make a game out of it • Show interest! • Talk about Math in real day life • Grocery Shopping • Bank Account • Ask to see what your child is doing in class. Have them teach you what they’ve learned. • Check Mrs. Flaherty’s weekly email w/ suggested McGraw Hill lessons and other activities.
