Welcome to Year 2!. Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Poulsom and Charlie the gerbil welcome you to Year 2. Our first topic was Fire and Light. We made a fire in the wild area and toasted marshmallows. We had a visit from the fire brigade.

  1. Welcome to Year 2! Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Poulsom and Charlie the gerbil welcome you to Year 2.

  2. Our first topic was Fire and Light. We made a fire in the wild area and toasted marshmallows.

  3. We had a visit from the fire brigade. We made some Diva Lamps when we were finding out how Hindus celebrate Divali and…

  4. …even ate some doughnuts when we were finding out how Jews celebrate Hanukah!

  5. Our topic this term is ‘The Snail and the Whale’ based on Julia Donaldson’s fantastic book. As part of this topic we have made a HUGE whale out of chicken wire and newspaper.

  6. The Animal Centre at Usk loaned us two giant African Land Snails which we used for our science investigation. We set up a snail café and found out that an African snail’s favourite food is cat food – YUCK!

  7. We are going to be finding out all about the coast of Wales where whales have been seen and what we can do to protect our seas and oceans so that marine life can live safely.
