  1. Sort These images Justify your process

  2. Let’s sort graphs • Envelope with graphs on tables (1 for 2 peeps) Directions With your partner, analyze andsort the graphs into different groups in anyway you feel appropriate. Be ready to justify your thoughts. Please return all graphs in envelopes.

  3. LT 1.2 • I can analyze and sort graphs.

  4. Function junction • Terminology • Relation • A relationship between sets of information • Ordered • Starting point = Input value = domain = x • Ending point = Output value = range = y

  5. Function • “well-behaved” relation • Given anx, we get only and exactly oney NOTE: While all functions are relationships (they pair information), NOT all relationships are functions.

  6. Vertical Line Test • A visual method to determine if the graph is a function or • not a function. • If you draw a vertical line and it crosses the graph in more than one place, then the relationship if NOT a function.

  7. Discrete Graph • Isolated points • Continuous Graph • Points that are connected by a line or smooth curve • No breaks

  8. Quick Review • Symmetry • A line that divides a body into two parts - that makes each • part its mirror image of the other. • horizontal line of symmetry • Parallel to the horizontal plane • vertical line of symmetry • Perpendicular to the horizontal plane

  9. Quick Review • Quadrants
